CLaSIC 2008 brought together academics, researchers and professionals from Asia and beyond for a productive and rewarding exchange of insights, experiences, views and perspectives on current and future developments in foreign language teaching and learning. The conference served as a platform for participants to report on current research and practices in foreign language education and related disciplines. It also provided an avenue for the discussion and critical examination of new and innovative concepts and approaches expected to have an impact on future practices.\nThe CLaSIC 2008 Organising Committee would like to thank all participants and presenters for their tremendous support of the conference and for their contributions which made CLaSIC 2008 a success. In addition, the proceedings of the conference were published in the form of a CD-ROM with 52 papers. Copies of the proceedings can be purchased at SGD20 each, excluding postage charges. 7% of GST is applicable for mail in Singapore only. The conference serves a platform for participants to report on current research and practices in foreign language education and related disciplines. It will also provide an avenue for the discussion and critical examination of new and innovative concepts and approaches expected to have an impact on future practices.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural CLaSIC was held in December 2004 at the National University of Singapore and was a resounding success. The second CLaSIC in December 2006 echoed its success with around 180 participants from all over the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feedback on the last two conferences:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0<em>The committee has done a fantastic job and I&#8217;ve found all staff very helpful and generous. In Singapore Changi Airport, you can find \u2018Taxis\u2019 signs in the arrival hall.\u00a0 A ride from the airport to your accommodation takes about 25-30 minutes and costs S$18.00-32.00 excluding surcharges. In town, you are able to catch one on streets or even call for bookings. Surcharges include peak hours surcharge, late night surcharge, airport surcharge, phone bookings and advanced bookings (bookings prior to 30 minutes and more). Please approach the Limousine Taxi counter in the Arrival Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Travel Fare from Airport to City:<\/p>\n&#8211; S$45 per vehicle per trip<br \/>\n&#8211; S$10.00 late night surcharge applies from Midnight to 0600hr at<br \/>\ntime of boarding<br \/>\n<strong>Trains (Mass Rapid Transit or MRT)<\/strong>\n<p>The Changi Airport MRT Station is located at the basement of Terminals 2 and 3. The journey to the City costs approximately $2.70 (inclusive of the $1.00 refundable deposit for single trip ticket) and takes about 27 minutes.
