It is because one-fifth of the planet speaks Mandarin Chinese. Mandarin Chinese is the mother tongue of over one billion people, making it the most widely spoken first language in the world.<br \/>\nLearning Chinese gives you a better understanding through the grammar and even how the Chinese words are derived of the culture behind them.<br \/>\nWe designed to provide an insight to Mandarin as a language and the understanding of Chinese culture.\n\tWe designed to provide an insight to Mandarin as a language and the understanding of Chinese culture.<br \/>\nWe are using an interactive and communicative approach to teaching the language. This corresponds to a beginner in the language focus to roughly the equivalent of Beginner Level.<\/p>\n<p>No specific pre-requisites are needed to enroll in Level 1. However, people who have intention to join mid-stage in the series of Levels are advised to conduct the placement test.<\/p>\n<p>Please contact us at clslang@nus.edu.sg for the placement test.<\/p>\n<p>Below are the placement test topics for Chinese Level 4 and above. There will be plagiarism (turn-it-in) checking your submitted essay. Please write the essay by yourself and email to clslang@nus.edu.sg for assessment.<\/p>\nChinese Level 4<br \/>\nThe test is one hour. The essay should be at least 200 Chinese characters. The topic is &#8220;\u6211\u6700\u5012\u9709\u7684\u4e00\u5929&#8221;.\nChinese Level 5 and above<br \/>\nThe test is one hour. The essay should be at least 250 Chinese characters. The topic is &#8220;\u4fdd\u62a4\u73af\u5883\u5c31\u662f\u4fdd\u62a4\u6211\u4eec\u81ea\u5df1\u3002\u8bf7\u8bf4\u8bf4\u4f60\u7684\u770b\u6cd5\u3002&#8221;.\n\t\t\t\t\t\tAssessments\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/clslang\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2020\/09\/8a-1-207x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"448\" \/><strong>INCORPORATING ASSESSMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each courses of content comprises some 30 hours, incorporating assessments and assignments.
