French is the second most widely learned foreign language after English, and the fifth most widely spoken language in the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A language of culture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>French is the international language of cooking, fashion, theatre, the visual arts, dance and architecture. A knowledge of French offers access to great works of literature in the original French, as well as films and songs. French is the language of Victor Hugo, Moli\u00e8re, L\u00e9opold Sendar Senghor, Edith Piaf, Jean-Paul Sartre, Alain Delon and Zinedine Zidane!<\/p>\n<p><strong>A language that opens the world<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An ability to understand French provides access to an alternative view of the world. They will also be able to read and understand basic texts and exchange in French on subjects such as self-presentations, likes and dislikes, leisure activities, asking for directions, commenting on the weather, talking about food, fashion and travels, making appointments, choosing an accommodation and expressing agreements and disagreements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPre-requisites\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/clslang\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2020\/09\/8a-1-207x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"448\" \/><strong>NO MINIMUM STANDARD REQUIRED FOR EMBARKING ON THE COURSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The French Language courses are designed in progression from Level 1 to Level 3. This corresponds to a beginner in the language focus to roughly the equivalent of Beginner Level.<\/p>\n<p>No specific pre-requisites are needed to enroll in Level 1.
