Students will learn to acquire basic grammar and vocabulary to perform authentic communicative tasks in everyday situations. They will be able to comprehend short listening texts, as well as express themselves in a variety of topical situations in daily life as well as during personal interactions. They will also gain an understanding of the target language society and observe how the language is used in the Thai context. They will acquire language learning and communication strategies that will support their language learning and language use.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPre-requisites\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/clslang\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2020\/09\/8a-1-207x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"448\" \/><strong>NO MINIMUM STANDARD REQUIRED FOR EMBARKING ON THE COURSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Thai Language courses are designed in progression from Level 1 to Level 3. This corresponds to a beginner in the language focus to roughly the equivalent of Beginner Level.<\/p>\n<p>No specific pre-requisites are needed to enroll in Level 1. However, people who have intention to join mid-stage in the series of Levels are advised to conduct the placement test.<\/p>\n<p>Please contact us at clslang@nus.edu.sg for the placement test.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tAssessments\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/clslang\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2020\/09\/8a-1-207x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"448\" \/><strong>INCORPORATING ASSESSMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each course of content comprises some 30 hours, incorporating assessments and assignments. Students will be engaged in a wide range of advanced and authentic reading materials that are relevant to current social, cultural, economic and political developments. Further, students&#8217; communication and presentation skills on complex topics will be developed.<\/p>\n<p>Through exposure to texts in new media and authentic materials, students will be engaged in forms of the target language as it appears in real life usage and authentic communicative situations.
