Its pronunciation rests on a six-tone foundation and its official written script follows a Romanized system. Knowing the language is advantageous to fostering an understanding of the Vietnamese culture, and is an advantage in doing business in the country.<br \/>\nRelations between Singapore and Vietnam have grown from strength to strength since the two countries established bilateral diplomatic relations. The expansion of trade and business contacts between Singapore and Vietnam over the years has been tremendously increasing over the years. As of June 2013, Singapore ranked as the second largest foreign investor in Vietnam with registered cumulative investments of US$28.3 billion in 1,164 projects. The five Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in Binh Duong, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh and Quang Ngai are concrete symbols of the close cooperation between the two countries.\n\tBilateral trade in 2012 reached US$15.8 billion. Both countries have elevated relations to that of a Strategic Partnership in 2013 to mark the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Vietnam. The Strategic Partnership agreement will reinforce the existing links between Singapore and Vietnam, and open up new directions for cooperation in various areas, including cooperation in education, training, finance, defense, and security. The knowledge of Vietnamese language is considered to be a distinct advantage in almost every profession, and those who master the language are in demand in almost all sectors.
