Conducive Learning Space

The space is designed to allow students to engage in critical, creative, and iterative thinking during the process of multimedia production. Currently, the CNM Studio is used as a conducive learning space to facilitate teaching interactive media design and production courses as part of interactive media design and production teaching in the Department of Communications and New Media at the National University of Singapore. This includes courses such as:

NM2213 Introduction to User Experience Design
NM3216 Game Design
NM3230 Digital Storytelling
NM3221 Mobile Interaction Design
NM4210 Advanced User Experience Design
NM4219 New Media in Health Communication
NM4231 Advanced Digital Storytelling
NM5219/NM2159R Critical Design
Through the use of the space in these courses, students are taught how to solve complex problems and think broadly about issues and imbue their multimedia products with these critical thoughts, ideas, and solutions.

Supporting Multimedia Production

The CNM Studio is designed to be a dynamic, ever-changing, and creative multimedia production space. Students are provided this dedicated space to do hands-on practice and apply what they learn about multimedia production from the various interdisciplinary courses that the Department of Communication of New Media offers. Whether it be a physical prototype, digital video, or a game that involves both physical and digital components, the CNM Studio can be adapted to support the creation of such products.

To facilitate the creation of such projects, the CNM Studio is equipped with a variety of cameras, film and lighting equipment, projectors, televisions, and dynamic discussion areas. Furthermore, the space also houses a Da Vinci Pro 3D Printer, sewing machine, and several soldering stations. Students can make use of the equipment with supervision once they have received the necessary training from the courses coordinators.
