Questions about the data
1. Which geographic areas do you cover in your dashboard?
Our area of focus at the moment is mainly in the Asia-Pacific region, in countries such as India, Indonesia and Malaysia. Presently, we do not cover elections taking place outside this region.
2. Do you cover all elections in the Asia-Pacific region?
No. Coverage of elections taking place in the Asia-Pacific region is subject to availability of resources. However, you may raise a special request to the Principal Investigators outlining the research potential of doing so for specific elections at taberez@nus.edu.sg
3. How often can I expect the dashboards to be updated?
Where resources allow, we will update the dashboard with data covering new elections taking place within the APAC region (India, Indonesia and Malaysia). Otherwise, we do not expect to update any existing dashboards on a regular basis.
4. Is there a way for me to access the data beneath the dashboard?
Aggregate data may be made available upon special request. Please reach out to taberez@nus.edu.sg to make such requests.
5. For the dashboard on 'Karnataka Assembly Election' 2023 and 'Malaysian General Elections 2022', no data is appearing under 'Ad Tone', 'Ad Type', 'Ad Emotion' and 'Ad Issue'. Why is this so?
Currently, no data will be generated under the 'Ad Tone', 'Ad Type', 'Ad Emotion' and 'Ad Issue' tabs for these two elections. This is because the underlying Facebook/Instagram advertisement data have not been coded with these attributes. We are currently in the process of labelling these data and the updates will be reflected onto the websites once this labelling process is completed.
Questions on utilizing the dashboard
1. The dashboard data is not appearing. What steps should I take?
This could be due to several reasons. The first is, it is likely that a combination of data filters have been selected that yields no data. For instance, choosing a date range outside of the intended range of interest for the study. The second could be due to the high volume of web traffic activity being experienced on the website. In this case, we would advise closing the webpage and checking back again at a later time.
2. Is it permissible to disseminate the graphs elsewhere, like on a department website or in a journal article?
Yes, the graphs are made publicly available and hence, could be shared without restriction. We would appreciate it if appropriate citation is included in the reposting as well.
3. What is causing the dashboard to load slowly?
The dashboards are equipped with several filters, and altering any of these will necessitate a brief period for the dashboard to refresh. This reloading duration can fluctuate depending on the internet connectivity and the processing capacity of the device in use.
4. Can the dashboards be accessed and used on a phone or tablet?
Yes, they may. We have made adjustments for the graphs to be displayed on portable devices such as phones or tablets.
5. Is it possible to utilize the dashboards without an internet connection?
No, the dashboard requires an active Internet connection to work.
