Dr Juliana Chan, Adjunct Associate Professor of Department of Communications, National University of Singapore
Dr Juliana Chan, an MIT-trained scientist turned media entrepreneur and Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, founded the STEM-focused media firm Wildtype Media Group in 2018 after a 15-year career in nanomedicine and drug delivery. She leads a 20-person creative team, supporting government, academic, and MNC clients with strategic communications, including thought leadership, custom publishing, corporate branding, and social media. Juliana began her LinkedIn journey in early 2020, actively posting during the pandemic lockdown, and was named an inaugural LinkedIn Top Voice for Singapore that same year. In 2023, she started coaching business leaders and creating educational content for LinkedIn. Besides her business ventures, Juliana is a frequent keynote speaker on entrepreneurship, science communication, and professional branding on LinkedIn.
Abstract
Research isn’t complete until it’s communicated, but how do we bridge the gap between researchers and the general public?
This training workshop aims to equip researchers with strategies and skills for communicating their research more effectively to a general audience. Topics to be covered include:
1. Best practices for research communication
2. Optimising multimedia (videos, diagrams, infographics) to illustrate research findings
3. Engaging with the media and securing international coverage
