Grants
CNM colleagues have been very active in securing grants and carrying out exciting research projects.
From 2020 to 2023, our department was a hive of activity with over 70 ongoing research initiatives, including those with our faculty as Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PIs). The total competitive funding for these projects approached nearly S$30 million.
Our faculty, serving as Principal Investigators (PIs), successfully obtained S$4,590,261.60 in funding, reflecting our strong leadership in research.
Most of these are from the Ministry of Education (e.g., MoE tier-2 and Social Science Research Thematic Grant), allocated through FASS (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) and CTIC (Centre for Trusted Internet and Community) as well as other funding agencies and statutory bodies in Singapore, for instance, National Arts Council, National Heritage Board, and DSTA (Defence, Science & Technology Agency).
In addition to domestic grants from within Singapore, research at CNM also benefits from extensive international collaboration funded by various agencies in Australia, Canada, China Mainland, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, and Turkey. Besides academic funding agencies, CNM colleagues have utilised research funding from the IT industry, for instance, Facebook Research and Adobe Systems.
