The B.A. Honours programme in Chinese Studies is available to students who have read either Chinese Studies or Chinese Language as a single major or first major. Students majoring in other departments may second major in Chinese Studies or Chinese Language by fulfilling the requirements on this page.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-tabs--label-0\" data-index=\"0\" role=\"tab\">\t\t\t\tChinese Studies\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-tabs--label-1\" data-index=\"1\" role=\"tab\">\t\t\t\tChinese Language\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\tChinese Studies\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Chinese Studies (CH) Second Major (Cohort 2021 Onwards)<\/h4>\n<p>Pass at least 40 units of CH or CH-recognised courses which include the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>CH1101E<\/li>\n<li>CH2121<\/li>\n<li>CH2141<\/li>\n<li>CH2161<\/li>\n<li>CL2101<\/li>\n<li>CL3104<\/li>\n<li>CH2162 or CH2221 or CH2243 or CH2252<\/li>\n<li>a minimum of 16 units at level-3000 (including CL3104) or higher (see Note 1)<\/li>\n<li>a maximum of 8 units (in total) of the following:<br \/>\na) CH-recognised courses (excluding CL2101 and CL3104)<br \/>\nb) CH courses that are taught in English (see Note 2)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<strong>Note 1:<\/strong> Students are allowed to read level-4000 courses, subject to department\u2019s approval.<br \/>\n<strong>Note 2:<\/strong> CH course codes with 3rd-digit &#8216;9&#8217; are taught in English.\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Chinese Studies (CH) Second Major (Cohort 2019 to 2020)<\/h4>\nI. Pass CH1101E. This will be counted towards the Faculty Core or UE requirements.<br \/>\nII. Pass at least 36 units of CH or CH-recognised courses which include the following:\n<ol>\n<li>CH2121<\/li>\n<li>CH2141<\/li>\n<li>CH2161<\/li>\n<li>CL2101<\/li>\n<li>CL2104 or CL3104<\/li>\n<li>CH2162 or CH2221 or CH2243 or CH2252<\/li>\n<li>a minimum of 12 units at level-3000 (excluding CL3104) or higher (see note 1)<\/li>\n<li>a maximum of 9 units (in total) of the following:<br \/>\na) CH-recognised courses (excluding CL2101, CL2104 and CL3104)<br \/>\nb) CH courses that are taught in English (see note 2)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\nNote 1: Students are allowed to read level-4000 courses, subject to department\u2019s approval.<br \/>\nNote 2: CH course codes with 3rd-digit &#8216;9&#8217; are taught in English.\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Chinese Studies (CH) Second Major (Cohort 2016 to 2018)<\/h4>\nI. Pass CH1101E. This will be counted towards the Faculty Core or UE requirements.<br \/>\nII. Pass at least 44 units of CH or CH-recognised courses which include the following:\n<ol>\n<li>CH2121<\/li>\n<li>CH2141<\/li>\n<li>CH2161<\/li>\n<li>CL2101<\/li>\n<li>CL2104 or CL3104<\/li>\n<li>CH2162 or CH2221 or CH2243 or CH2252<\/li>\n<li>a minimum of 20 units at level-3000 or higher (see note 1)<\/li>\n<li>a maximum of 9 units (in total) of the following:<br \/>\na) CH-recognised courses (excluding CL2101, CL2104 and CL3104)<br \/>\nb) CH courses that are taught in English (see note 2)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\nNote 1: Students are allowed to read level-4000 courses, subject to department\u2019s approval.<br \/>\nNote 2: CH course codes with 3rd-digit &#8216;9&#8217; are taught in English.\n<hr \/>\n<p>*All department courses can be taken as electives by students from other departments\/programmes.
