(Hons.)]<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Students who wish to major in Economics for the B.Soc.Sci. (Hons) degree are required to read and pass EC1101E Introduction to Economic Analysis. EC1101E will be counted towards the FASS Exposure (Social Sciences) or Unrestricted Electives (UE) requirement.<\/p>\r\n<p>EC Major students must accumulate\u00a0at least 84 MCs of EC-coded or\u00a0EC-recognised modules, which must include the following:<\/p>\r\n(1)\u00a0\u00a0EC2101 Microeconomic Analysis I<br \/>\r\n(2)\u00a0\u00a0EC2102 Macroeconomic Analysis I<br \/>\r\n(3)\u00a0\u00a0EC2104 Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis\u00a0<em>(see\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.nus.edu.sg\/ecs\/undergraduate\/matriculated_16-17%20onwards.html#note1\"><em>Note 1<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><br \/>\r\n(4)\u00a0\u00a0EC2303 Foundations for Econometrics\u00a0<em>(see<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.nus.edu.sg\/ecs\/undergraduate\/matriculated_16-17%20onwards.html#note2\"><em>\u00a0Note 2<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><br \/>\r\n(5)\u00a0\u00a0EC3101 Microeconomic Analysis II<br \/>\r\n(6)\u00a0\u00a0EC3102 Macroeconomic Analysis II<br \/>\r\n(7)\u00a0\u00a0EC3303 Econometrics I\u00a0<em>(see\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.nus.edu.sg\/ecs\/undergraduate\/matriculated_16-17%20onwards.html#note3\"><em>Note 3<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><br \/>\r\n(8)\u00a0\u00a0EC3304 Econometrics II<br \/>\r\n(9) A minimum of 20 MCs of EC modules at Level-3000 or higher (including EC3101, EC3102, EC3303, and EC3304)<br \/>\r\n(10) A minimum of 40 MCs of EC modules at level-4000 or higher<br \/>\r\n(11) A maximum of 2 level-5000 EC modules (subject to department\u2019s approval)<br \/>\r\n(12) A maximum of 12 MCs of EC-recognised modules for major programme\r\n<p>(a)\u00a0\u00a0 To be on the Honours track, students must have completed 110 MCs, including 44 MCs in the Major, with a CAP of 3.2 and above.<\/p>\r\n<p>(b)\u00a0\u00a0 EC4401 Honours Thesis (15 MCs) is optional. To qualify for the Honours Thesis, students must have completed 110 MCs including 44 MCs of EC major requirements with a minimum SJAP of 4.0\u00a0<u>and<\/u>\u00a0CAP of 3.5. In order to obtain Honours (Highest Distinction), students must achieve a CAP of 4.5 or higher\u00a0<u>AND<\/u>\u00a0a Pass Grade in the Honours Thesis.<\/p>\r\n<p>(c)\u00a0\u00a0 Students who do not attempt the Honours Thesis will read level-4000 or higher EC modules to fulfil the Honours Requirements.<\/p>\r\n<p>(d)\u00a0\u00a0 Students may also read a level-4000 Independent Studies Module (5 MCs). The level-4000 ISM carries a pre-requisite of 100 MCs completed, including 44 MCs in the Major with a minimum CAP of 3.2. It precludes the Honours Thesis.<\/p>\r\n<p>(e)\u00a0\u00a0 All level-4000 modules carry a general pre-requisite of having completed 80 MCs, including 28 MCs in the Major, with a minimum CAP of 3.2\u00a0<u>OR<\/u>\u00a0being on the Honours track (some level-4000\u00a0modules may have different pre-requisites).<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Single Major (B.A.)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Students who wish to major in Economics for the B.A. degree are required to read and pass EC1101E Introduction to Economic Analysis. EC1101E will be counted towards the FASS Exposure (Social Sciences) or Unrestricted Electives (UE) requirement.<\/p>\r\n<p>EC Major students must accumulate\u00a0at least 44 MCs of EC-coded or\u00a0EC-recognised modules, which must include the following:<\/p>\r\n(1) EC2101 Microeconomic Analysis I<br \/>\r\n(2) EC2102 Macroeconomic Analysis I<br \/>\r\n(3) EC2104 Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis (<em>see\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.nus.edu.sg\/ecs\/undergraduate\/matriculated_16-17%20onwards.html#note1\"><em>Note 1<\/em><\/a>)<br \/>\r\n(4) EC2303 Foundations for Econometrics (<em>see<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.nus.edu.sg\/ecs\/undergraduate\/matriculated_16-17%20onwards.html#note2\"><em>\u00a0Note 2<\/em><\/a>)<br \/>\r\n(5) EC3101 Microeconomic Analysis II<br \/>\r\n(6) EC3102 Macroeconomic Analysis II<br \/>\r\n(7) EC3303 Econometrics I (<em>see\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.nus.edu.sg\/ecs\/undergraduate\/matriculated_16-17%20onwards.html#note3\"><em>Note 3<\/em><\/a>)<br \/>\r\n(8) A minimum of 20 MCs of EC modules at Level-3000 or higher (including EC3101, EC3102 and EC3303)<br \/>\r\n(9) A maximum of 8 MCs of EC-recognised modules for major programme\r\n\t<p><em>Note 1: Students who have passed any MA module that is not MA1301 or MA1311 or MA1312 or MA1421 or any 2 MCs MA modules are allowed to read any level-2000 or level-3000 EC elective or EC-recognised module in lieu of EC2104. Likewise, not more than one level-1000 MA module can be used together with EC2104 for fulfilling major requirements.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\t<p><em>Note 2: Students who have passed any ST module or MA2216 or DSC1007 or DSC1007X are allowed to read any level-2000 or level-3000 EC elective or EC-recognised module in lieu of EC2303. Please note that ST1131 is a preclusion to EC2303. Therefore, ST1131 and EC2303 cannot be counted as two 4-MC modules for the fulfilment of the Economics major requirements.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\t<p><em>Note 3:\u00a0ST3131 is a preclusion to EC3303. Students who have passed ST3131 need not read EC3303.
