<\/h3>\n

Single Major [B.Soc.Sci. (Hons.)]<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Students who wish to major in Economics for the B.Soc.Sci(Hons) degree must accumulate\u00a0at least 100 MCs from EC or\u00a0<\/u><\/strong>E<\/strong><\/a><\/u>C-recognised modules for MAJOR Programme<\/strong><\/a>, which must include the following:<\/p>\n(1)\u00a0\u00a0EC1101E Introduction to Economic Analysis
\n(2)\u00a0\u00a0EC2101 Microeconomic Analysis I
\n(3)\u00a0\u00a0EC2102 Macroeconomic Analysis I
\n(4)\u00a0\u00a0EC2104 Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis\u00a0(see\u00a0Note 1<\/a>)<\/em><\/strong>
\n(5)\u00a0\u00a0EC2303 Foundations for Econometrics\u00a0(see\u00a0Note 2<\/a>)<\/em><\/strong>
\n(6)\u00a0\u00a0EC3101 Microeconomic Analysis II
\n(7)\u00a0\u00a0EC3102 Macroeconomic Analysis II
\n(8)\u00a0\u00a0EC3303 Econometrics I\u00a0(see\u00a0Note 3<\/a>)<\/em><\/strong>
\n(9)\u00a0\u00a0EC3304 Econometrics II
\n(10)EC4103 Singapore Economy: Practice and Policy
\n(11)A minimum of 40 MCs of EC modules at level-4000 or higher, including EC4103
\n(12)A maximum of 2 level-5000 EC modules (subject to department\u2019s approval)
\n(13)A maximum of 12 MCs of EC-recognised modules for major programme\n(a)\u00a0\u00a0 To be on the Honours track, students must have completed 110 MCs, including 60 MCs in the Major, with a CAP of 3.2 and above.\n(b)\u00a0\u00a0 EC4401 Honours Thesis (15 MCs) is optional. To qualify for the Honours Thesis, students must have completed 110 MCs including 60 MCs of EC major requirements with a minimum SJAP of 4.0\u00a0and<\/u>\u00a0CAP of 3.5. In order to obtain First Class Honours, students must achieve a CAP of 4.5 or higher\u00a0AND<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0a Pass Grade in the Honours Thesis.\n

(c)\u00a0\u00a0 Students who do not attempt the Honours Thesis will read level-4000 or higher EC modules to fulfil the Honours Requirements.<\/p>\n

(d)\u00a0\u00a0 Students may also read a level-4000 Independent Studies Module (5 MCs). The level-4000 ISM carries a pre-requisite of 100 MCs completed, including 60 MCs in the Major with a minimum CAP of 3.2. It precludes the Honours Thesis.<\/p>\n

(e)\u00a0\u00a0 All level-4000 modules carry a general pre-requisite of having completed 80 MCs, including 28 MCs in the Major, with a minimum CAP of 3.2\u00a0OR<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0being on the Honours track (some level-4000\u00a0modules may have different pre-requisites).<\/p>\n

Single Major (B.A.)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Students who wish to major in Economics for the B.A. degree must accumulate\u00a0at least 60 MCs from EC or\u00a0<\/u><\/strong>EC-recognised modules for MAJOR Programme<\/strong><\/a>, which must include the following:<\/p>\n(1) EC1101E Introduction to Economic Analysis
\n(2) EC2101 Microeconomic Analysis I
\n(3) EC2102 Macroeconomic Analysis I
\n(4) EC2104 Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis\u00a0(see\u00a0Note 1<\/a><\/em>)<\/strong>
\n(5) EC2303 Foundations for Econometrics\u00a0(see\u00a0Note 2<\/a><\/em>)<\/strong>
\n(6) EC3101 Microeconomic Analysis II
\n(7) EC3102 Macroeconomic Analysis II
\n(8) EC3303 Econometrics I\u00a0(see\u00a0Note 3<\/a><\/em>)<\/strong>
\n(9) A minimum of 20 MCs of EC modules at Level-3000 or higher (including EC3101, EC3102 and EC3303)
\n(10)A maximum of 8 MCs of EC-recognised modules for major programme\n\t

Note 1: Students who have passed any MA module that is not MA1301 or MA1311 or MA1312 or MA1421 are allowed to read any level-2000 or level-3000 EC elective or EC-recognised module in lieu of EC2104. Likewise, not more than one level-1000 MA module can be used together with EC2104 for fulfilling major requirements.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\t

Note 2: Students who have passed any ST module or MA2216 or DSC1007 are allowed to read any level-2000 or level-3000 EC elective or EC-recognised module in lieu of EC2303. Please note that ST1131 is a preclusion to EC2303. Therefore, ST1131 and EC2303 cannot be counted as two 4-MC modules for the fulfillment of the Economics major requirements.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\t

Note 3: Students who have passed ST3131 are allowed to read any level-3000 EC elective in lieu of EC3303.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\t<\/a>EC-recognised modules for MAJOR Programme<\/u><\/strong>
\nNote: These modules are NOT applicable to students pursuing the Minor Programme\nThe following Mathematics and Statistics modules are recognised as fulfilling the requirements of the Economics major (subject to a maximum of 8 MC for the Single Major (B.A.); or 12 MC for the Honours programme):\nBSS4003A Special Sem in Business: Innovation and Productivity
