This should only be done after you secure a place at the partner university. Please take note of the following matters when submitting your mapping application:

Economics core courses and level-4000 or higher courses must be read at NUS. The department does not approve mappings of SEP courses to core and level-4000 or higher courses.

Students should have obtained prior approval for the course(s) from the host department before embarking on the exchange trip; otherwise, students may run the risk of not having their course(s) approved.

A successful exchange requires careful planning well ahead of time. Students should research potential exchange universities to identify economics programs where there are relevant courses that can be mapped to our department courses. Be sure to complete the necessary pre-requisite courses at NUS before your exchange semester, so that you have a wider selection of modules to choose from at your exchange university.

Successful mappings typically have at least 75% similarity in content with courses from our department. Courses that contain content from a combination of courses at NUS are typically not approved. For example, many universities offer a course in International Economics which combines content from EC3342: International Trade I and EC3343: International Finance I. Such courses will not be mapped to either EC3342 or EC3343. We will also not map them to a dummy code too.

For more information on course mappings, see Question 28 on the FASS SEP Important FAQs page

      Student Experiences

Study Abroad Introduction Course Mapping Student Experiences Introduction Through the Student Exchange Programme (SEP), students have the opportunity to study abroad for a semester or a full year. Students do not incur additional tuition fees overseas; they just continue to pay their regular tuition fees at NUS for the semesters they are abroad.
