He previously served in the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Law, and Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts. He was Permanent Secretary at several of these ministries. Mr Niam also served at the National Population and Talent Division and the National Climate Change Secretariat. He previously served as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Finance. He is currently Chairman of the Institute of Banking and Finance, and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Singapore Indian Development Association.
