The First Ee Peng Liang Memorial Fund Regional Social Service Leaders Exchange Programme
(17th - 28th May 2016)

Testimonials

“After attending EPLMF programme, now I feel that my work will be reviewed by people from: Singapore, India, China, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Nepal. This has made me to feel like a more responsible citizen of Asia.

I have been transformed from consultant to changemaker. The NUS team has been encouraging. Frontiers are opened and I am now dedicated to achieve different milestones through the principle of ‘together we can’”. – Suhrid Chapagain, Nepal

“The greatest impact the program has made on me is the message of a  social worker’s responsibility towards advocacy. I still keep in mind what Associate Professor Ng Kok Hoe said, “We might not believe in people or institutions, but we do have to believe in the functions and roles of institutions to do advocacy. It is the responsibility of every single social worker no matter where we serve.” – Tran Thi Tra My, Vietnam

“The program gave me an opportunity to learn more from the NUS professors and other international participants regarding their social work practice in their home countries. There is a number of valuable learning points that I have brought back with me to serve my clients and one of them is the knowledge on how to conduct community needs assessment. It is very relevant to my current work situation and I have a plan to share this knowledge with my co-workers as we go out to assess the needs and resources in the community of our clients who came out of human trafficking situation. I believe that this knowledge will help us serve our clients more effectively.”  – Sovannara Moch, Cambodia

“I find that the EPLMF Social Service Exchange Program was meaningful to my work. I applied my observations from Gracehaven Home in Singapore to organizing, managing children and risk-youth at my organisation’s residential homes.

In addition, the visits to AMKFSC and South Central FSC were learning opportunities about provision of support to the vulnerable. I am applying the skills and methods learned at these centres and at the fundraising and publicity workshop to a project for youth-at-risk.” – Tran Thi Hien, Vietnam
