Through the delegates\u2019 sharing, I realised that the difference between VWOs in Singapore and overseas include 1) the amount of resources we can garner and 2) the support we have from our government. These may be factors that contribute to us being able to come up with more services locally. Yet, despite the varying challenges, what prevails is our fighting spirit- the spirit of going the extra mile for the populations we serve\u201d \u2014 Ying Ning, AMKFSC Community Services<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThey were a great bunch, asked a lot of good questions. They were also really respectful of our clients, and asked me on whether there were any cultural norms that we had to be aware of. The programme is funded by the generosity of Mr Richard YM Eu in memory of his mother, the late Mrs Diana Eu, and also to commemorate the 90th birthday of Mrs Betty Chen, Immediate Past President &amp; Patron of Chinese Women\u2019s Association.\n<p>About\u00a0<u>15 social service leaders<\/u>\u00a0from Asia and in particular ASEAN, will be selected to come to Singapore to learn and to share their experiences in their own communities with Singapore social work and service practitioners. This programme will also provide opportunities for professionals in Singapore\u2019s social service field to learn about current issues faced by their counterparts in different countries in the region<\/p>\n<strong><em>Programme Outline<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>The two-week programme will be held in Singapore, under the auspices of the Department of Social Work, National University of Singapore from the 16<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0to 29<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of June 2019.\n<p>Participants would be involved in the following activities:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><u>Exposure to local social work agencies<\/u>\u00a0in Singapore to gain some understanding of social work case management in Singapore.<\/li>\n<li><u>Placement<\/u>\u00a0in an agency related to applicant\u2019s area of specialization \u2013 i) Family Violence (Adult and Interpersonal violence), ii) Children and Youth Work, iii) Health and Mental Health Social Work.<\/li>\n<li><u>Workshops and Trainings<\/u>\u00a0in relevant areas of interest, which may include case management, advocacy, leadership in social services, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Participants would be expected to\u00a0<u>conduct a workshop to a local audience<\/u>\u00a0as part of a knowledge sharing experience. Shortlisted candidates will be expected to complete a Skype interview in English.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants are able to conduct a 30-minutes mini-seminar to present their organisation services\/programmes, a specific topic related to their field of expertise or work experiences in their respective country\u2019s context.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<em><strong>Application Process<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em>Applicants must submit the following items:\n<ol>\n<li>Completed application form<\/li>\n<li>A cover letter of application addressed to the Social Service Leaders Exchange Programme Committee. The letter should contain a brief explanation of the applicant\u2019s background, current area of work, and reasons for applying to this programme.<\/li>\n<li>Updated CV, academic degree certificates, relevant professional training certification.<\/li>\n<li>Two letters of recommendations from employers or other persons with significant knowledge of the applicant in a professional capacity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>Selection<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Process<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Closing Date of Application: 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Feb 2019.<\/li>\n<li>Selection will
