Chan Hui Hsien
Hui Hsien is a PhD student. She graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She holds three MA degrees, one in Advance Japanese Studies from University of Sheffield in 2006, one in Education in English Language from Nanyang Technological University in 2016 and one in Japanese Studies from NUS in 2021. While running a language school in Japan since 1995, her years of teaching and engagement with older Japanese in life-long learning centers stimulated her interests and concerns over aging issues. In her MA thesis, she researched on how older Japanese plan their later life and afterlife amid changing demographic and sociocultural transformations in an aging Japan. Her PhD research focuses on a growing digitalized Japanese society and its impact on the quality of life of older Japanese. As hobbies, Hui Hsien loves wearing the kimono, growing roses and traveling.
