Zachary is an MA student who graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Japanese Studies. His research interest include Japanese popular culture, Japanese language and linguistics, and fan communities. His current research project on seiyū, or Japanese voice actors, came about from both his personal interest in seiyū as well as the observation that there was a distinct lack of English language scholarship on the topic despite the robust community surrounding them.

He enjoys playing badminton in his free time and had the pleasure of representing the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the Inter-faculty Games as an undergraduate.
