{"id":154,"date":"2020-08-11T09:06:47","date_gmt":"2020-08-11T09:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/jps\/?page_id=154"},"modified":"2023-03-08T09:52:58","modified_gmt":"2023-03-08T09:52:58","slug":"second-major","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/jps\/second-major\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Major"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>\n\t\tSecond Major\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Check the graduation requirements for your cohort:<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tSecond Major (Cohort 2021 Onwards)\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>To major in Japanese Studies, students need to:<\/p>\n<p>Pass at least 40 units of JS courses or <a href=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/jps\/recognised-modules\/\">JS-recognised courses<\/a> or LAJ courses which include the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>JS1101E<\/li>\n<li>JS2101<\/li>\n<li>LAJ1201 (Note 1, 2)<\/li>\n<li>LAJ2201 (Note 1, 2)<\/li>\n<li>a maximum of 16 units from LAJ level-1000 to level-3000 (including LAJ1201 and LAJ2201)<\/li>\n<li>a minimum of 12 units at JS level-3000 or higher<\/li>\n<li>a maximum of 8 units of JS-recognised courses<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<strong>Note 1:<\/strong> Students with JLPT N3 and above may be waived from these LAJ course(s).<br \/>\n<strong>Note 2:<\/strong> Students who have been given a waiver from these LAJ course(s) should read JS\/<a href=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/jps\/recognised-modules\/\">JS-recognised<\/a>\/LAJ course(s) to make up the minimum units required.\n<h2>\n\t\tSecond Major (Cohort 2019 to 2020)\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>To major in Japanese Studies, students need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pass JS1101E. This will be counted towards the Faculty Core or UE requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Pass at least 36 units of JS courses or <a href=\"\/jps\/recognised-modules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JS-recognised courses<\/a> or LAJ courses which include the following:\n<ol>\n<li>JS2101<\/li>\n<li>JS3101<\/li>\n<li>LAJ1201 *<\/li>\n<li>LAJ2201 *<\/li>\n<li>LAJ2202 *<\/li>\n<li>LAJ2203 *<\/li>\n<li>a minimum of 16 units at level-3000 or higher (including JS3101)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>*Notes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who are waived from LAJ course(s) should read JS course(s) to make up the minimum units required.<\/li>\n<li>LAJ4203 and LAJ4205 cannot be counted towards JS major requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\tSecond Major (Cohort 2016 to 2018)\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>To major in Japanese Studies, students need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pass JS1101E.
