The Department of Malay Studies at NUS seeks to hire\u00a0two tenure track assistant professors with a PhD in either the Social Sciences or the Humanities, one of whom will be on a joint appointment with the Department of Southeast Asian Studies.<\/strong>\u00a0Candidates who have a strong track record with promising trajectory in research, publication and teaching in any one or a few of these areas are invited to apply: history, literature, globalization, politics, economy, religion, gender, population, migration, family, health, social services, digital culture, cultural politics and human-nature intersections.<\/p>\n

Candidates should have area studies knowledge of the Malay world in Southeast Asia.<\/strong>\u00a0A comparative approach and\/or inter-disciplinary expertise on the Malay world and its connections with other regions will also be considered. Hires should have a commitment towards fostering a collegial and collaborative work culture.<\/p>\n
