1. | What are the benefits of reading American Studies? |
The American Studies Programme is designed to facilitate the development of student’s analytical abilities while at the same time introducing them to important concepts and institutions of American society.
Students taking the course will find them a useful preparation for careers in which they will have dealings with Americans. This could include working for large multi-national corporations, government service, and journalism. |

2. | Can American Studies be taken as an exposure course for either the Humanities or Social Sciences division? |
The American Studies Programme does not offer an exposure course. The Programme offers elective courses at level-2000/3000/4000. For more information on the courses, please visit here. | |
3. | Do you offer postgraduate studies for American Studies? |
We do not offer postgraduate studies. | |
4. | I am interested in taking American Studies as my major. Can I do so? |
American Studies is not offered as a major. | |
5. | I am a foreigner and I am interested in American Studies in NUS. I would like to know how I should apply for the course. |
Our courses are offered to registered full-time undergraduates at NUS. American Studies courses are only offered as elective courses. To do an undergraduate degree at NUS, there are other requirements to be fulfilled. For more information on application, please visit the Office of Admissions. |
