Q1. How do we register for the Freshman Seminar?
Students can bid for the Freshman Seminar module through the ModReg@EduRec during module registration.
Q2. Who can register for the Freshman Seminar?
The Freshman Seminar modules offered by the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences are open only to FASS students. Only first-year students are eligible to read the module.
Q3. How many Freshman Seminar modules can we take?
FASS students are restricted to taking a single Freshman Seminar module throughout their course of study.
Q4. What requirement can the Freshman Seminar module fulfil?
The Freshman Seminar module fulfils only the Unrestricted Elective (outside the major) requirement.
Q5. Can I use the Freshman Seminar module to fulfil my Breadth requirement?
No, the Freshman Seminar module can be used to fulfil only the Unrestricted Electives (outside the major) requirement.
Q6. Can I use the Freshman Seminar module to fulfil my exposure requirement since it is a level-1000 module?
No, the Freshman Seminar module is not an exposure module, hence it cannot be used to fulfil the exposure requirement.
Q7. Can I S/U this module?
No, FASS students (up to Cohort 2013) will not be allowed to exercise the S/U option on modules that are offered by FASS. This module will be graded (letter grade) and will count toward your Cumulative Average Points (CAP).

FASS students from Cohort 2014 are able to exercise the S/U option for freshman seminars because of the new gradeless policy.

Yes, this module will count towards the limit of 32MCs of level-1000 FASS modules.
Q9. What is the maximum class size for each seminar module?
There will be 15 places per seminar class.
