The panel was convened by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tft.ucla.edu\/2013\/09\/thomas-oconnor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thomas O\u2019Connor<\/a>, the Managing Director of Theatre Nohgaku.\u00a0\u00a0O\u2019Connor started the session with a discussion of the history of Theater Nohgaku.\u00a0Laura Sampson, a professional performer based in London, discussed her journey of noh next. The third speaker Richard Emmert shown the development of an English noh with a demonstration from the kuse session of the noh play <em>Sumidagawa<\/em>. This was followed by\u00a0John Oglevee\u00a0who examined noh in translation contrasting performances in Japanese with English.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fll.chass.ncsu.edu\/people\/faculty_staff\/glmathew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gary Mathews<\/a>\u00a0then presented segments from\u00a0<em>Blue Moon Over Memphis,\u00a0<\/em>together with music scores,\u00a0to discuss the singing style of the \u201ctheme song\u201d of the noh play. The last speaker of the panel was\u00a0Elizabeth Dowd, another professional performer based in the U.S. She shared with the audience the noh training projects that she engaged with in the past and those in progress.<\/p>\n<p>We have edited the video recording of the panel presentation into smaller segments by each presenter for easier viewing.
