Today Newspaper:\u00a0“Substantial Support for ISA in S’pore, says Shanmugam”<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

There is substantial support for the Internal Security Act (ISA) in Singapore, with the public generally seeing the regional security context and understanding the government\u2019s use of it, said Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam at a dialogue on Monday (Nov 14). \u201cI believe support for the ISA, if anything, has increased,\u201d he said, at a\u00a0dialogue organised by the National University of Singapore (NUS) Political Science Alumni Association\u00a0<\/strong>and security services firm TwinRock Global. He was responding to a question from a\u00a0political science student<\/strong>\u00a0on whether a shift towards liberal values \u2014 including calls to abolish the ISA on the basis of human rights \u2014 would affect the Government\u2019s ability to clamp down on divisive rhetoric.<\/em><\/p>\r\n
