However,\u00a0<strong>40%<\/strong>\u00a0of readings must be in a relevant Southeast Asian language.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong><u>Guidelines for Students<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>You will have a main supervisor from the Department of Southeast Asian Studies for each Independent Study who, together with yourself, will work out a research proposal prior to your departure for exchange. Your research proposal must include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research objectives<\/li>\n<li>Research protocol or methodology<\/li>\n<li>Implementation plan and timeline<\/li>\n<li>Key readings<\/li>\n<li>Interview\/survey questions (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>DERC-PISCF (if applicable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your main supervisor and you will also have to work out a schedule for progress reports from you throughout your semester at your Partner University. In general, consultation with main supervisor should be at least 2 hours a week.<\/p>\n<p>The research proposal must be submitted to the Department SEP administrator together with a signed copy of the\u00a0Application Form\u00a0signed by both your supervisor and yourself.<\/p>\n<p>You will be assigned an appropriate field supervisor at your Partner University. You must have\u00a0<strong>at least 4 hours\u00a0<\/strong>of consultation\/supervision with your field supervisor(s) while at your Partner University.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the semester, each student must submit a<strong>\u00a0final project report (maximum 5000 words) and journal<\/strong>\u00a0to the Department of Southeast Asian Studies.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><u>Assessment<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Evaluation is based on 100% Continuous Assessment and details of assessment must be worked out between your main supervisor and yourself prior to seeking departmental approval.
