{"id":1152,"date":"2018-11-02T01:07:44","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T01:07:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/sea\/?p=1152"},"modified":"2024-05-24T12:30:21","modified_gmt":"2024-05-24T04:30:21","slug":"job-vacancy-associate-professor-professor-1-position","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/sea\/2018\/11\/02\/job-vacancy-associate-professor-professor-1-position\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Vacancy: Associate Professor\/Professor &#8211; 1 position"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National University of Singapore is seeking to fill a senior position in the Department of Southeast Asian Studies. \u00a0We are particularly interested in recruiting scholars who will enjoy the opportunity of working collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines in a leading area studies department at a highly ranked university.<\/p>\n<p>The Department seeks applications from Associate Professors and Full Professors who specialise in one or more of the following fields: gender and sexuality studies; urban studies; new media studies.\u00a0 The geographical focus of the position is mainland Southeast Asia (especially Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia). The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate classes in their area(s) of specialisation as well as to have an active research agenda.\u00a0 The normal teaching load is three modules (courses) spread over two semesters.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates should show evidence of a strong publication record, have received at least one competitive external grant or fellowship, and have at least 7 years of teaching experience. \u00a0Leadership experience would be a plus but is not required.\u00a0 Ideally, we would like the successful candidate to begin their appointment in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Interested candidates should submit an application packet consisting of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a cover letter<\/li>\n<li>up-to-date CV<\/li>\n<li>a statement describing their research trajectory thus far and future plans<\/li>\n<li>a statement describing their teaching philosophy, and<\/li>\n<li>contact details for 3 referees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remuneration will be internationally competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
