Thesis/ research topic: Discretionary accountability among energy experts in Singapore

Zu Xiang is currently pursuing a part-time Masters in Sociology while working as a research assistant at the Energy Studies Institute, NUS. His current work studies decarbonisation policies of key economies to propose policy recommendations for Singapore. The energy sector, despite its importance in dealing with issues like climate change, energy security and politics, seems to be underrepresented by sociologists working in the field. There is a rich social world of meanings and relations that Zu Xiang hopes to explore in the Singapore context through his Masters research by studying up at energy experts, particularly with their notions of accountability. Prior to this, he graduated from NUS with a Bachelors in Environmental Studies and has worked several research assistant roles, always with a keen interest in how the environmental and social interact.
