Liang Yichen

Liang Yichen is a PhD student in Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, National University of Singapore. Prior to joining NUS, she obtained her master’s degree in International Social and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Tsinghua University.
Research:
Her research interests center on the impact of environmental factors on child development at different levels (families, communities, schools, etc.), with a focus on understanding the reproduction of social inequality in China’s context. She is also interested in the gender roles within and beyond the family. Her thesis will employ quantitative methods to explore how children’s development is shaped by their family backgrounds and how this influence is embedded in their communities.
