Research Interest: Nationalism, Migration, International Student Mobility, China

For my doctoral research, I plan to examine how international students from mainland China perform, negotiate, and at times resist nationhood in the context of migration. 

I am a PhD student in Anthropology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, National University of Singapore. I received my BSocSc in Asian and International Studies from the City University of Hong Kong with First Class Honours. Before starting my PhD, I worked as a teaching assistant at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where I also obtained my MA in Anthropology. 

I once struggled with whether I should do a PhD, because the career prospects and income working in academia can be uncertain. But a fortune teller told me that while I would never be rich, I would not starve either. Doing a PhD would probably fit that prophecy, so here I am.
