Sanjay Sharma

Research Interest: Transnationalism, Gender and Migration, Gender and History, Historiography, Gurkhas, Gurkha Women, Visual Anthropology; Alternative Methodologies.
I am a final year PhD student at the Department of Sociology, NUS. I have a master's degree in Political Science from Central European University, Hungary (2017).
Dissertation:
My doctoral research offers a gender critique of the militarisation and transnational migration of Gurkha soldier families. I use alternative methodologies as my research tools that include the analysis of photographs, virtual ethnography, social media engagements, and online and on-site archives. My research interests also include feminist historiography, decolonial thought, Marxist literature, and colonial migrations.
