PGF recipients can be from any nationalities.<\/p>\n\u00b7 Each PGF carries a monthly stipend, tuition fee subsidy, a one-off air travel allowance, and a one-off settling allowance.<br \/>\n\u00b7 The PGF is initially awarded for one year and renewable each semester based on the scholar&#8217;s performance. The maximum award is four years.<br \/>\n\u00b7 PGF recipients typically demonstrate exemplary academic record (i.e., top performance in undergraduate\/graduate studies), strong research potentials (i.e., credible signs of research ability, interests that might lead to a path-breaking piece of work), strong ethical characters and high potential to succeed at NUS.\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-1\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-1\">Research Scholars (RS)<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-1\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>A limited number of Research Scholarships (RS) is available for PhD (all nationalities) and master&#8217;s (Singapore citizens\/permanent residents only) candidates.<\/p>\n\u00b7 Each RS carries a monthly stipend plus a tuition fee subsidy.<br \/>\n\u00b7 The initial duration of the RS is one year and renewable based on the scholar&#8217;s academic performance. For PhD candidates, the scholarship is valid until the completion of the fourth year of their program, while for master&#8217;s candidates, it is valid until the completion of the second year.<br \/>\n\u00b7 RS applicants must be university graduates with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division)\/Honours (Distinction) or equivalent.\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-2\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-2\">The Harvard-Yenching institute (HYI) and NUS Joint Scholarship<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-2\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Harvard-Yenching Institute (HYI) and NUS Joint Scholarship is awarded to eligible PhD candidates who will spend the first 38 months at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, NUS (financed by NUS), while the remaining 10 months will be spent at Harvard University (financed by HYI).<\/p>\n\u00b7 Each HYI-NUS Joint Scholarship carries a monthly stipend, tuition fee subsidy, and one round-trip economy airfare between Singapore and USA.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Applicants for the HYI-NUS Joint Scholarship must be nominated by their home university, which has to be one of HYI partner universities in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia). They will also need to hold a teaching position or possess teaching experience at one of these partner institutions and are assured reemployment after graduation from NUS.\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-3\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-3\">Joint NUS-King&#8217;s College London PhD Programme<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-3\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>NUS Research Scholarships are available for eligible PhD candidates to pursue the Joint NUS-King&#8217;s College London PhD Programme.<\/p>\n\u00b7 Applicants of the joint PhD Programme are required to write to NUS and KCL potential advisors to ascertain their interest\/suitability in your research topic.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Each candidate of the NUS-KCL Joint PhD Programme will be registered in one home university but guided in their work by faculty members from both NUS and KCL, and examined to the standards of both.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Scholarship holders will receive a monthly stipend and tuition fee subsidy.\n<h2>\n\t\t\tConference Funding\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Full-time PhD and Master&#8217;s research students are eligible to apply for financial assistance for their conference trips.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\">Conference Travel Grant (Research Students)<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Full-time PhD and Master&#8217;s research students are eligible to apply for financial assistance for their conference trips.<\/p>\n<p>Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to refer to this <a href=\"https:\/\/myportal.nus.edu.sg\/studentportal\/fas\/gd\/Forms\/Details%20of%20scheme_FY2026_23032026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">document<\/a> for the details of this scheme.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Funding and Scholarships Funding Opportunities For outstanding master&#8217;s and PhD students to pursue their full-time graduate studies in Sociology and Anthropology at NUS Scholarships Scholarships are typically available each academic year.
