The Department of Sociology and Anthropology offers financial assistance to undergraduate students through bursaries and scholarships. These are intended to support students who require financial aid and demonstrate strong academic performance.<\/p>\n
Applicants are assessed based on eligibility criteria stated for each bursary or scholarship. The department reserves the right to not award any bursary or scholarships if there are no candidates of sufficient merit.<\/p>\n
The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained. The bursary or scholarship will be withdrawn if, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, the student’s progress or behaviour has not been satisfactory.<\/p>\n
In commemoration of their 45th year of graduation in 2014, the classmates of the Pioneer Class of ’69 raised funds to set up the Department’s inaugural bursary, FASS Class of ’69 Sociology Alumni Bursary Fund. The fund aims to benefit two students every year. Mr Yap Boh Tiong, one of the initiators of the fund, hopes that the students will also share the spirit of giving after benefitting from this class reunion gift.<\/p>\n
The bursary was renamed to NUS Sociology Alumni Bursary Fund (initiated by Pioneer Class of ’69) in 2016. This was done in the hope of inviting the larger Sociology family to contribute to the fund so that it can continue to grow in order to reach out to more financially needy students.<\/p>\n

Shotam and Sarojini Shotam Scholarship is a new scholarship that has been set up in memory of Mr S.P. Shotam and Ms Sarojini Shotam.<\/p>\n The scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Sociology, with preference given to candidates who double major or minor in Social Work. One scholarship will be given out in every three academic cycles.<\/p>\n To know more, visit us<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tHotel Grand Central Scholarship<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t By setting up the Hotel Grand Central Limited Scholarship, the Group hopes to nurture outstanding NUS undergraduates (majoring in Sociology) who will go on to make a positive impact on the community.<\/p>\n The Scholarship will be awarded to academically strong Year 3 and Year 4 undergraduates majoring in Sociology.<\/p>\n
