I hold a bachelor&#8217;s degree in Communication and a master&#8217;s degree in Applied Linguistics from Southern Luzon State University in the Philippines, where I am currently also a lecturer on study leave.<\/p>\n<p>Tentatively, my dissertation topic investigates the intersections between modernity, death and the state. I am specifically interested in the changing ritual practices of the Singaporean Chinese surrounding death.
