\n\tPakeezeh (Padmini) Baruah (they pronouns) is currently pursuing a PhD at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the National University of Singapore, in the anthropology track. Their research interests centre around migration, statelessness, gender studies, and land rights. In particular, they focus on the question of state violence as manifested through the application of the law towards targeting minorities in the northeastern part of India. Pakeezeh holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, Boston, where they were a Robert F. Meagher Fellow.
