Research on migration, diaspora and transnationalism examines how people move across borders, forge new identities and sustain social, cultural and economic connections across transnational networks. Our faculty members’ manifold expertise stand at the forefront of migration and mobility studies in Asia, as they examine how cross-border movements intersect with inequality, citizenship, family formation and belonging.<\/p>\n

Drawing on sociological, ethnographic and policy perspectives, our faculty members develop holistic insights into the lived realities of migration. These areas of research work contribute not only to academic scholarship but also toward public understanding and policy development in areas such as migrant labor rights, refugee resettlement and diaspora engagement. Together, these studies position the Department as a thought leader in studies of human mobility and globalization.<\/p>\n
