The Population, Social Networks and Health pillar explores how demographic transformations, social networks, gender dynamics and health outcomes interact to shape individual and community well-being. Faculty members’ varied expertise cover the range of population studies, medical sociology, social gerontology, gender studies and the study of social capital and inequality. These areas of research contribute to advancing both theoretical and policy-oriented understandings of health, family and society.<\/p>\n

The Department has played a leading role in establishing and managing the Centre for Family and Population Research (CFPR) for over a decade. As one of the key research centers within FASS, CFPR serves as a hub for population and family research work in Singapore and the region. Faculty members under this pillar have secured multiple external research grants to collect and analyse data across Asia and beyond, and more significantly produce influential research work in top-tier journals and other publications.<\/p>\n

Research themes include health and medical sociology, aging and gerontology, fertility and family, gender and life course, social capital, social networks, inequality and public policy.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
