Research Interest: assortative mating, social mobility, family relationships, gender inequality, fertility

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at NUS. My research centers on the dynamics of romantic and intergenerational relationships within families, with a focus on assortative mating, social mobility, and subjective well-being. I am also interested in the demographic trends within the East Asian context. Prior to joining NUS, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Nanjing university and a Master of Arts from University of Chicago.

My doctoral thesis focuses on how individuals’ subjective well-being is contingent upon relationship dynamics, including intergenerational mobility between parents and adult children, and status comparison and dyadic interaction between spouses. It also examines how these relationship dynamics are embedded in the evolving gender norms within broader society and vary across contexts.
