Research Interest: Sexuality, intimacy, gender, religion, migration, social inequality 

Yi Yang is currently a master’s student at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the National University of Singapore, from which he had also graduated with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in Sociology and Philosophy. Prior to his current candidature he was a research assistant at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communications at Nanyang Technological University, engaging with a range of AI-related work, including Asian imaginaries of AI, and the impact of AI on creative professionals in Singapore.

His current research interests lie in modes of subjectivation in neoliberal regimes, particularly with reference to the technologies central to financial capitalism. In this he draws frequently on theorists like Deleuze, Nietzsche and Lazzarato, attempting to explore potentially speculative theoretical strands in their empirical instantiations.
