Jiajia is currently a Masters candidate with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, National University of Singapore. She obtained a BSocSc (Honours, Highest distinction) from the NUS University where she majored in Sociology.

Inspired by Foucault’s work on discourse and power, her honours dissertation focuses on those who are empowered to define and represent the poor, and to care for the poor. At the same time, she looks at the lived realities of the poor.

Research:
Currently, for her Masters dissertation, she is exploring both the concepts of infrastructure and of care to scrutinise the ways care is being provided for “the poor” in Singapore.
