September 27, 2013
There are more poor people in Singapore than the numbers provided by the government, said speakers at a National University of Singapore forum on 24 September, 2013. In order to highlight the importance of the poverty issue, MP Laurence Lien and labour economist Hui Weng Tat proposed a series of figures that show rising income inequality and stagnating wages of the bottom 20 percent in the past decade.
