FASS Professor Lily Kong highlights sensitivities of heritage management

FASS Geography Professor Lily Kong was featured in a 26 September Straits Times article on managing the heritage of Singapore’s historic dragon kilns. As Singapore becomes rampantly developed, issues of heritage preservation come to the fore. Amid various governmental bodies and civic groups, the preservation of heritage in Singapore involves the overlapping of roles and managing various priorities. Further, as Prof Kong noted, the cultural representations resulting from the intermeshing of roles and priorities by such bodies affect the public’s image of Singapore’s heritage preservation.
