A review of Mrs Anne Wee’s (Dept of Social Work) memoir, A Tiger Remembers: The Way We Were in Singapore, was published in the Straits Times. The title alludes to Mrs Wee’s inauspicious Chinese zodiac and her 66 years of memories as a Singaporean. For the vivacious 90-year-old Wee, her first book is the result of a prolific career and her unapologetic, go-getter lifestyle. Her wit and academic prowess is reflected in this memoir, a nostalgic read for those who have fond memories of Singapore’s yesteryears. It also provides a refreshing insight from her non-native perspective. For the young, Mrs. Wee’s target audience, the book aims to explicate the reasons for Singapore’s success and initial struggles.

Mrs Wee will be taking questions about her book at the National Library Board on 28 December 2016 as part of The Big Read Meet. For more details and to sign up, click here: www.nlb.gov.sg/golibrary2/e/the-big-read-meet-38655257
