The Legacy of Dr. Lim Kho Seng

You have heard of Dr. Lim Boon Keng, one way or the other. But what do you know of his eldest son?

Dr. Lim Kho Seng may not quite be as famed as the ‘grand old man of the Singapore Chinese community’. But according to Associate Professor Wong Sin Kiong from the Department of Chinese Studies, that is because this son of Singapore was making splashes overseas instead. After studying in the University of Edinburgh, he came to China in 1924. It was there where he made his mark – serving as the wartime chief executive of the Red Cross in China and eventually becoming the first president of the National Defense Medical Center there.
