Sherlock Hong: The Immortal Nightingale
June 12, 2018
If you’re looking for clues to entertain children this June holiday, look no further than Dept of English Language and Literature alumnus Don Bosco’s Sherlock Hong series!
The first of this four part series is The Immortal Nightingale (2015).
Other than an interest in solving mysteries, Sherlock Hong and Sherlock Holmes are worlds apart. Hong is a Singaporean teenage boy from the 1890s who enjoys alchemy and magic. To further his mystical interests, he joins a secret organisation. Like any other serious secret organisation, Hong must prove his worth by solving a mystery. His first assignment – to uncover a local magician’s plan to resurrect a nightingale. Hong enlists the help of his neighbour Aisha to conduct the investigations. As the investigations progresses, the friends get mired in danger and magic’s mayhem.
Therefore, the real magic in Don Bosco’s Sherlock Hong series is that its storyline keeps children enthralled and reading. At least until the book ends.
