For Valentine’s Day we feature Singapore Love Stories (Monsoon Books, 2016), an anthology of 17 love stories, edited by Verena Tay, who completed her M.A. in English Literature at the NUS Department of English Language and Literature.

Written by leading Singaporean and Singapore-based writers, the collection of stories explores various perspectives on love by a diverse group of individuals – from the HDB heartlander, the Sentosa millionaire, the expat, to the migrant worker. As the stories probe into the best and worst of the human condition, they reveal the many ways in which love is both a salve and a wound, to answer an important question:

“What does it mean to love and be loved in Singapore?”
