Study highlights need to help ‘socially isolated’ elderly folk

As the elderly who live alone can hardly care for their health, some researchers claim that the society should be responsible for taking care of them. On 31 March 2014, A/P Straughan from the Department of Sociology at the National University of Singapore pointed out that “When you have a strong pool of volunteers to step up and fill the gap, then the whole community benefits”.
