In 1995, she returned to Singapore and introduced a new direction for the SYC Ensemble Singers. Under her leadership, the choir has excelled at several international choral festivals. Now, she is one of the most established players in the local choral singing scene, having been the volunteer director of the amateur group Singapore Youth Choir.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-16695\" src=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/srn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/08\/001-233x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"863\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/srn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/08\/001-233x300.jpg 233w, https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/srn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/08\/001-794x1024.jpg 794w, https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/srn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/08\/001-768x990.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fass.nus.edu.sg\/srn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/08\/001.jpg 1135w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Artistic freedom fighter<\/p>\n<p>Thirunalan Sasitharan was also a student from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in the 1980s. He has been an actor, artistic director of the experimental arts venue The Substation in Armenian Street and art critic at The Straits Times.
