In order to highlight the importance of the poverty issue, MP Laurence Lien and labour economist Hui Weng Tat proposed a series of figures that show rising income inequality and stagnating wages of the bottom 20 percent in the past decade. Besides, A\/P Hui from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, highlighted the situations of the &#8220;working poor&#8221; who struggled to make ends meet.
