It was reported that study findings released by the NUS Centre for Sustainable Asian Cities, FASS Sociology Department and the HDB showed that residents’ interactions in HDB estates tend to be incidental and minimal. Displays of trust, such as safekeeping of house keys and lending or borrowing of household items are seldom heard of, probably\u00a0because residents value privacy more when they are densely packed. A\/P Paulin Straughan from the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (NUS) believes that infrastructure can play a big part in fostering cohesiveness.
