Family and population continue to be a hot topic for discussion in Singapore, with much of the country’s nation-building strategies revolving around related public policies. As part of the ISA Joint RC06 (Family) and RC41 (Population) Conference held from 17 to 19 May hosted by the NUS Centre for Family and Population Research – NUS CFPR\u200b, NUS Professor of Sociology Wei-Jun Jean Yeung and Research Fellow Dr. Shu Hu launch their book, Family and Population Changes in Singapore: A Unique Case in Global Family Change<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The book focuses on various aspects of family and population in Singapore, tracing the policies on family and population in the last half a century, while also discussing changes to family structures and values among major ethnic groups. It also discusses policies for vulnerable populations, including cross-cultural families, the elderly, and same-sex partnering. Concerned with the changes in family and population, the book also looks ahead at potential challenges in the country’s future.<\/p>\n
